NEW SITE CHANGES!
You may have noticed that over the past few months quiet changes have been made to the site. First we gave you new artist pages. Check out your favorite and you'll find widgets, videos, music, and much more. Plus they look great.
A few weeks back we also updated our Artists page. You'll see highlighted artists up top in blue. These change as artists are updated with news, video, and music. This is a great page to make your first port-of-call after the news section!
Today we've relaunched three other pages. Music and Video are all new. You can now embed all of our music and video posted to the site in your blog, web site, or MySpace/Facebook profiles. At the right of these pages you'll see charts driven by what YOU do on our site. You can also leave comments at all songs and videos, rate them, and favorite them in our new profile system (more on that in a sec).
The Releases page has gotten a huge makeover. Every album now has its own home page where you can see the available tracks, rate it, leave a review, or comment on others' reviews. Snazzy huh?
Finally, we just launched our new profile pages. If you're a subscriber to our email newsletters, you can log in, add your own picture, keep track of the latest updates on our site (and partner sites), follow your favorite videos and music, and tell us what bands you want to hear about.
Of course, many of these new features require that you be a member of the site to use them, so please join today!
We are, of course, in a beta phase and need your help to make the site work the best for YOU. If you see any problems or want to suggest changes to the new features, please send an email to webmaster@roadrunnerrecords.com with "NEW SITE REPORT" in the subject line. If you receive an error, please be as detailed as possible, including what page you were on, what browser you are using, and copy any error message you receive into the body of the email.
Please feel free to leave comments here below!
Cheers!

The 2-disc special edition release of Chimaira is in stores now.
DVD UNDERGROUND
Last year marked the inaugural Sounds of the Underground Tour, which saw 17 of the best and most brutal metal acts around traverse the U.S. and Canada. On July 2nd, 2005, the tour hit the parking lot of the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, and with it came almost 5,000 fans.
Metal bands like DevilDriver, A Life Once Lost and Strapping Young Lad hammered out their sets alongside hardcore acts like Madball and Throwdown in the sweltering 95+ degree midday heat. As the sun began to set, stalwarts like Chimaira, Poison The Well and From Autumn To Ashes played well into the darkness. All of their passion and power is captured in the Sounds of the Underground Live: Volume 1 DVD.
So check out this ECARD featuring 3-minute teaser of all the live footage and backstage chaos you'll find on the DVD, coming to stores June 20th.

Chimaira
It's been almost exactly two years since the release of Chimaira's genre-defining metal opus The Impossibility of Reason. Filled with crushing anthems like "Pure Hatred" and "Power Trip," the album was direct and to the point, spewing pure sonic vitriol. Touring in support of Impossibility saw Chimaira play over 330 shows in 21 countries, much of which was documented in The Dehumanizing Process DVD, which offered a unique glimpse into the making of that album and the ensuing chaos, but nary a note of new music. Well rest-assured that the creative fires have been burning bright in the belly of the beast. Chimaira have followed up The Impossibility of Reason with a crushing new album of epic proportions. The time has now come to set this monster free as something this ferocious can't be contained forever. Chimaira's self-titled new release hits stores August 9th.

The Impossibility Of Reason
THE NEW WAVE OF AMERICAN HEAVY METAL has been born...enough said. BUT, for those of you that like to read text, read on, read on...
Pass Out Of Existence is Chimaira's foundation, but the band hardly rested on its laurels when it came time to make The Impossibility Of Reason. "This is a more mature record," says singer Mark Hunter. "But at the same time, it's more in your face. Whether it's the heaviest, or the most melodic, tame song, it's full on. It's everything our fans love, but with something else. Look at some of the most notorious metal bands out there. You can't put on any of their records without noticing a change from record to record. That is what we strive to do. We feel we've shown a lot of growth and musicianship."
Lead guitarist Rob Arnold concurs, "We all had a certain motivation about the music we wanted to create. The fury. The speed. The aggression. We learned a lot from being the road."
Sonically, Chimaira focused on crafting an album that ignores current metal trends such as rapping, guest appearances, and scoffs at any traces of nu metal. "The Impossibility Of Reason is less futuristic than the last record. The programming is more subsonic, and it's more of a dark synth style," Hunter explains. "The low sub tones make you feel you like you are inside the record. It's the darkest thing we have ever done."
The darkest thing that will make you see the light...

Pass Out Of Existence
Chimaira's sound cannot be classified neither purely the nu-metal of today's heavyweights or that of the classic metal gods. Chimaira pull from the best elements of both yesterday and today.
In March 2001 the band put together the 14 fiercely emotional tracks that are showcased on PASS OUT OF EXISTENCE - the band's Roadrunner debut album. Musically the album captures Chimaira's signature sound: intense guitar riffs, brutal bass lines, intricate electronics and heart-pounding drum sequences blended with refined harmonies and brilliant and brutal melodies.
Chimaira is on a mission to destroy everything in their path. Every instrument unearths emotions better left unexplored and together they unleash the vicious monster that lurks just beneath the surface of these six men.
